Joseph B. Bullock

Welcome! I am a Visiting Assistant Professor at Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas. I have also taught in the Philosophy Departments at Austin Community College and at St. Edward's University in Austin, Texas. I work on ancient Greek and Roman philosophy, and my primary interests are epistemological: I write about ancient skepticism and science.

My research focuses on the nature of skeptical inquiry and how that inquiry interacts with the skeptical suspension of judgment. I am also interested in how ancient philosophers dealt with issues in social epistemology, including norms of disagreement, the nature of expertise, and the cause(s) of ἐποχή.
